The organizers of the 100th anniversary gala of Boalt Hall—UC Berkeley’s law school—made good use of this knowledge when they hired Buchanan to organize their big party, in Pauley Ballroom on Friday night. The speeches were witty: Cryogenics might make it possible for alums to be around for the 200th anniversary, said Dean Chris Edley, but “the longer you stick around the more time you’ll be asked to contribute.”
