Therefore you may submit your LRAP web application now and follow up with the federal student loan documentation later via email when you have reliable access to the new Direct Loan website.
Direct Loan’s new website: www.myedaccount.com is now available. We noticed that at this time it only works with the Internet Explorer browser and probably due to high traffic it is rather slow.
The Berkeley Law – LRAP web application works best with the Internet Explorer browser. If you use another browser, you may face difficulty posting the application.
As of this year, the UC Berkeley campus changed the reporting of graduation dates from 5/30 for all students to the actual graduation dates. For Boalt ’11 graduates this year’s graduation date was 5/13/11. Therefore the grace period of your federal student loans will end on 11/13/11.
Your first payment will be due as early as 14 days after the 11/13/11 period but no later than 45 days after your grace period ends on 11/13/11.
Class of 2011 LRAP applicants: please list the month of your first student loan due date as the beginning date for your LRAP application.
Until 8:00 AM (ET) on Monday, October 10, 2011 the Direct Loan Servicing Online web site will be unavailable during a transitioning process to a new system.

The pilot program for “Low Bono” and Union LRAP coverage is available for up to seven graduates of the Class of 2010 and 2011. For the Class of 2010 three slots are still open, and applications for the Class of 2011 are now accepted.
In order to keep your student loans in good standing, graduating students have to complete the exit counseling. If you are not sure what repayment plan or payment due date to choose, you may opt for the standard option and make changes later.
Please familiarize yourself with the Direct Loan Servicing account. Along with the LRAP application you have to provide documentation of your repayment plan selection which is available within the account summary information.
Heather Jarvis recently posted the good news that the Department of Education will verify that employers qualify as public service organizations and will notify borrowers in writing of the number of qualifying payments made.
But first there is a 90-day period of public comment on this before it becomes final.
